Status of ECHR Case and Stefanoni

Status of ECHR Case and Stefanoni

Postby vawn » Fri May 22, 2015 1:26 pm

Does anyone know the status of AK's appeal to the ECHR? Has her case been presented? When can a decision be expected? Is she likely to win? If they rule in her favor does this have force of law in Italy? Will she then be eligible for compensation?

Are there any people in the Italian justice system who realize what a horrible mess was made of this case?

Will or has Patrizia Stefanoni suffered any consequences for false testimony? Isn't perjury illegal in Italy?

Thanks for any input.

The thread "ECHR: Convention Violations and Case-Law" ( viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3162 ) has thorough analysis of Amanda's chances there. They look good, though it's unclear how far her case has progressed in the system. I presume she can sue Italy if the ECHR ruling is in her favor. It certainly sounds like the Court of Cassation panel that acquitted Amanda and Raffaele know what a mess was made of the Kercher case; they should release their motivation report in the next month. Of course judge Hellmann of the first appeal trial also demonstrated how he knows this.

Not sure what's happening with Stefanoni.
